Premier Digital Textiles has developed a range of fully GOTS-certified pigment-coated organic cotton fabrics.

The 2327 Eco Bebe Double Gauze, for nursery products such as swaddles, bibs, baby sheets, baby towels, accessories and toys, is the first fabric to be released from the pioneering range. More fabrics from its fully GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified collection will be available in the coming months. The introduction of the new fabrics also marks the beginning of a broader plan to extend this eco-friendly coating to their entire collection of organic cotton fabrics. Premier Textiles Group Managing Director Nick Smith said: “This advancement reinforces Premier’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in the textile industry. “The first to be fully GOTS-certified pigment coated organic cotton is our 2327 Eco Bebe Double Gauze, which is constructed from two layers of gauze that are securely tacked together, creating a breathable material.

“At 58 inches wide, this lightweight, soft fabric features an open weave, offering both comfort and functionality. After washing, it develops a distinctive crinkled effect, adding texture and aesthetic appeal. “This REACH Compliant and Oeko-tex certified fabric is ideal for customers seeking a versatile, eco-friendly option that doesn’t compromise on style or performance,” said Nick.  GOTS is an independently certified, worldwide textile processing standard for organic fibres. To carry the ‘made with organic’ label grade, a textile product must contain a minimum of 70% certified organic fibres, while the ‘organic’ label grade requires a minimum of 95% certified organic fibres. The remaining portion of fibres must meet strict criteria per GOTS requirements. Premier Digital Textiles is part of the Premier Textiles group along with Bancroft Soft Furnishings and Premex Solutions, which opened a new 10,000 sq ft warehouse in Atlanta last year to service the growing demand of the digital print ready fabric market in North America.

The group was founded in 1981 and has more than 50,000 sq ft of modern warehousing space in the north west of England. Stocking over 5 million linear metres of fabric at any given time, Premier Textiles is one of Europe’s leading importers of fabrics, yarns and finished fabrics. Nick added: “By integrating the GOTS-certified pigment coating, Premier Digital ensures that the fabrics meet the highest standards for organic production and processing, offering customers a truly sustainable option. “This expansion not only enhances the versatility of our organic cotton range but also provides a unique combination of quality and sustainability, catering to the growing demand for environmentally responsible textiles. “We are excited to say that Premier’s fully GOTS certified range will grow in the coming months.”
