Resilience and Partnership: Navigating Challenges Together

In a recent communication, Faruque Hassan, Managing Director of Giant Group, Director of the International Apparel Federation (IAF) and Former President of BGMEA, expressed deep appreciation for the continued support of partners and members of the Buyers Forum amidst ongoing challenges. The letter addressed the recent political disturbances and flood crisis in Bangladesh, which have caused significant disruptions to production and logistics.

Faruque Hassan acknowledged the resilience of the long-standing partnerships that have been forged over years of mutual trust. Despite the adverse conditions, he praised the forum members for their ethical and sustainable business practices, particularly their decision not to penalize suppliers for delays caused by the unforeseen circumstances. This gesture, he noted, has provided crucial relief to the industry and reinforced the collective resolve to overcome these challenges together.

As the situation in Bangladesh gradually improves, with ports and customs operations slowly returning to normal, Hassan assured partners that authorities are working diligently to expedite processes. However, he also warned that the ongoing flood situation could continue to cause transportation and logistical issues in certain areas.

In response to these challenges, Hassan shared positive news regarding the full-capacity operation of key land customs ports, including the Beanpole port. He encouraged partners to consider utilizing these ports as an efficient alternative to congested seaports, offering a valuable contingency plan to maintain the flow of materials and products.

Looking ahead, Faruque Hassan reiterated his commitment to upholding the highest standards of quality, sustainability, and ethical business practices. He emphasized the importance of strong partnerships built on trust and mutual respect, noting that the recent disruptions have reinforced the need for such relationships in navigating the unpredictable nature of global business.

In closing, Faruque Hassan expressed his gratitude for the continued confidence in Bangladesh’s garment industry, which he described as a driving force behind ongoing efforts to improve and innovate. He affirmed his dedication to ensuring that these partnerships continue to thrive in the years ahead.
